Many pyrotechnic events claim to the biggest, the largest, or to hold some sort of world record. But it’s hard to say which are officially worthy of the title when you are looking at different variables such as the show’s length, or the actual number of fireworks shot, or the combined number of grams of compounds – it’s like comparing apples to oranges to watermelons. Plus, there is a question about there is one, consistent judging agency. Needless to say, there are still some pretty impressive firework shows that entertain the world including this event in Madeira Island, Portugal.
Claiming to be the record for the largest firework display (again, vague on which variables), this firework event went down (or shall we say “went up”) on December 31, 2006. Designed and executed by Macedo’s Pirotecnia, the numerous pyrotechnic effects were shot off over a nearby harbor. We love the way the sparkling celebration in the sky and along the shore lights up the sky just enough to see some of the old ships parked out in the harbor. Check out the video.
