Fans of European royalty have been in wedding withdrawal since the marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2010. Thank goodness another event filled with pomp, circumstance, and fireworks happened on October 19, 2012 to satiate the masses. This time, it was the royal hitching of Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and Countess Stephanie de Lannoy who tied the knot in a civil ceremony that was crowned with a ritzy reception at the Grand Ducal Palace. Of course, the glamorous guest list was a who’s who of royalty, industry and entertainment.
While a formal religious ceremony filled with all the bells, whistles and official regalia was held the next day, the reception evening events including a vibrant firework display lit up the night sky in their honor. Creating a fabulous photo-opportunity moment, the couple re-enacted the traditional “balcony kiss” while colorful bursts of pyrotechnics bloomed overhead. After the firework show, popular Luxembourg musicians took the stage to serenade the newly-minted Grand Duke and Duchess.
