New Years Eve Fireworks

While the first New Years Eve fireworks were created in ancient China and used as a way to ward off evil spirits, today they are set off around the world to celebrate the beginning of the New Year on December 31st.  There is no arguing the art of pyrotechnics has come a long way from the “angry bamboo” found in ancient dynasties! Part of the allure of fireworks is the welcomed noise, the colorful flashes of light and the fellowship with friends and family on New Year’s Eve.

The harbor of Sydney, Australia is host to one of the most well-known New Years Eve fireworks shows in the world. Set above the iconic opera house, more than two million watch this spectacular show in person and millions (if not billions) more viewers watch on TV. The reason why this is such a world-wide event is because Australia’s time zone makes this country one of the first to ring in the New Year. So, while you may be eating lunch, the Australians are making merry with New Years Eve fireworks.

Berlin, Germany is host to one of the biggest New Years Eve fireworks events throughout Europe. The focal point for this party is Brandenburg Gate and the midnight pyrotechnic show illuminates in the sky above the landmark.  In Taiwan, a fireworks New Years Eve display in the city of Taipei’s downtown shopping district features an unusual fireworks skyscraper that lights up with sparkles floor by floor and then jets out fireworks from the top.  In the United States, New Years Eve fireworks extravaganzas are held in cities across the country. Also, many amusement parks stage memorable shows for guests to enjoy at the end of a family-friendly day. And, like in other nations, enthusiasts also like to purchase their own firecrackers, fountains, sparklers and such to put on their own shows at home.

If you want to “go big,” choose artillery shells that are shot from the ground and explode into the sky in colorful chrysanthemums, peonies, willows, spiders and more.  Fuse together your fireworks on a mortar rack, light a single leader fuse and sit back to watch the action. Or, for more simple fun, firework novelties such as the all-time favorite sparklers, smoke bombs and confetti poppers will get guests of all ages in on the New Years Eve fireworks action. To ensure the safest New Year possible, make sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions on the back of the fireworks as well as the ordinances governing fireworks in your area.
