Memorial Day Fireworks

Memorial Day is a special time to honor the brave men and women who have died in military service for the United States. The day was first enacted to pay tribute to the Union soldiers of the American Civil War and, after World War 1, was used as an umbrella observance for American military personnel who have died in any conflict. The bittersweet weekend is both a time of solemn remembrance for the fallen as well as a celebration of what America stands for. Memorial Day is also the harbinger of the busy summer season filled with festivals and events in every state of the Union. The happy side of the day is filled with parades, concerts and, of course, the expected Memorial Day fireworks shows!

Ceremonies and special events abound in every corner of the country, from coast to coast.  Of course, our nation’s capitol is a focal point for Memorial Day fireworks and events and the National Memorial Day Concert is one of the most popular venues. This free concert and Memorial Day fireworks show is o the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol and features appearances by dignitaries, actors and musical guests. Nearby in Virginia at Wolf Trap Farm Park, there are Memorial Day fireworks at “Summer Blast Off: The President’s Own.” This park for performing arts pays tribute to the day with a performance by the U.S. Marine Band followed by a spectacular Memorial Day fireworks display.

Wherever you live, your town probably has a special celebration in honor of the fallen soldiers along with a parade and Memorial Day fireworks. Check your local city hall or visitor’s center to see what opportunities are available in your location to celebrate this important day.  If you are interested in setting off Memorial Day fireworks of your own, some fireworks stands come off hiatus between New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July to offer fireworks for sale especially for this May special event.  For backyard get-togethers, sparklers and little red-white-and-blue firework novelties always make family-friendly Memorial Day fireworks that everyone one can participate in. Or, go for the glory by setting off a show filled with huge aerial bursts and sparkling fountains and delight your guests beyond description.

If you can’t find a fireworks stand open this time of year to sell fireworks on Memorial Day, it is probably because your particular State, county or city only allows the sale of fireworks on specific days. You can always visit a reputable online site such as All Sparks Fireworks to find Memorial Day fireworks that you can purchase year-round. Shop any time of the day or night and have your purchases mailed straight to your home, it’s the easiest way to get a firework fix!
