Named after explorer Christopher Columbus, Columbus, Ohio is a historical part of the Midwest. Founded in 1812, the city has a rich cultural past and a future that is bright – especially with all the firework shows. The greater metro area features many pyrotechnic displays in honor of holidays, seasons, festivals and just plain fun! Near Independence Day, the Columbus Symphony also hosts a performance called ‘Picnic with the Pops’ that includes patriotic music followed by a firework show. All around the greater central Ohio area there are also dozens of other firework displays worth checking out. 


 The Ohio State Fair, an 11-day extravaganza at the end of July and beginning of August, is once again hosting firework shows after a three-year absence. Thank goodness the fireworks are back because it makes coming early and staying late at the big fair well worth the time and effort! Held nightly after the headline musical entertainment, there are sure plenty of ‘ooohs’ and ‘ahhhs’ at this firework show. In May, the Columbus Commons Grand Opening Weekend signals the beginning of summer season festivities in downtown Columbus. Featuring live music, food, an outdoor movie, kids’ activities and a memorable firework show, this is a real family pleasing event.


 Sports lovers also have a chance to see some spectacular pyrotechnics. Home of the Columbus Clippers, this Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians plays games at a new stadium out in Huntington Park. After name of the home games in the summer, fans are treated to spirited fireworks shows all for the love of baseball. It’s also worth checking out Ohio State University to see if they have any firework shows planned for homecoming or in celebration of graduation or big games.
