California is a hotspot for culture, fashion, entertainment and the next latest greatest thing and you can bet the firework shows are some of the best. From Los Angeles and San Francisco to San Diego, you’ll find hundreds of firework shows geared to get your groove on! In the Los Angeles area, there is a large array of firework displays for the 4th of July, by some estimations there are 40 celebrations! From the beaches and boardwalks to downtown and surrounding urban areas, firework enthusiasts are sure to find an event that will keep their peepers popped until the morning’s wee hours! Located in Studio City, spectators can watch the ‘Grand Ole 4th of July Fireworks Festival’ which ends with an illuminating firework display. Also, check out the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl, an event that includes music by the LA Philharmonic, marching bands and live entertainment by some of the music industries biggest stars. The Rose Bowl in Pasadena hosts a patriotic pyrotechnic show called AmericaFest with spectacular fireworks launched to patriotic music. Also during the summer, the Los Angeles Dodgers feature Friday Night fireworks as a way to entice parents and their kids out to the ballpark. LA Galaxy soccer also will occasionally feature post-game fireworks that are not to be missed from the fan stands or neighboring streets.
San Diego is a gorgeous destination for fireworks shooting off over the beautiful ocean vistas. For July 4th, the Big Bay Boom is a show aptly named; multiple barges shoot off fireworks simultaneously from around Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero and Chula Vista. There will also be a display from the end of the Imperial Beach Pier. Ocean Beach Pier, the only dog-friendly beach, also has a firework show that is a great option if your pooch isn’t afraid of pyrotechnics. Also, in Mission Bay, Sea World has fireworks not only on July 4th but all summer long.
In San Francisco, head down to Pier 30 and 32 during May to dazzle your senses at the “KFOG’s KaBoom Annual Firework Festival,’ a world-class show that is synchronized to a great rock soundtrack. Ring in the New Year on the Embarcadero in San Francisco with a waterfront midnight firework show on December 31st, a free event hosted by the city that is definitely worth bundling up for. Throughout the year, Disneyland in Anaheim is always a family friendly spot for watching a firework show. Disney fireworks delight guests with the iconic image of fireworks o visit to the Disneyland Resort is complete without the iconic image of fireworks bursting over the castle of Sleeping Beauty. Shows change with the season, including special versions for the 4th f July, New Year’s Eve, Halloween and others. A little hint, if you don’t want to fork over the big bucks for a Disneyland ticket, you can see most of the fireworks from Downtown Disney which is open to the public and doesn’t have an admission charge.
Disney isn’t the only attraction that offers firework viewings in California. Other theme parks in the area such as Universal Studios Hollywood feature seasonal firework shows. Halloween Horror Nights during the month of October at Universal Studios features extremely spooky exhibits, rides and themed firework shows. Six Flags Magic Mountain also offers seasonal firework shows including events for New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July.
